ERGANI Centre in Thessaloniki has since 1991 played an important role in integrating women in the socio-economic life of the region either by updrading their ability to meet employment demands or increasing their skills to become or be better entrepreneurs.

Ergani is an urban non-profit organisation consisting of both public and private organisations and considered an urban non-profit company. It receives funding from national agencies but also from private enterprises .The national agencies for the management of the Centre are

  • the Municipality of Sykies
  • Association of Industries of Northern Greece
  • Association of Exporters of Northern Greece
  • General Secretariat for Youth
  • Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – Section of Women’s Studies.

EU financial contribution is effected through EKOS and the programme AWAKE.

 

Quality assurance: the co-operation with other national and European networks leads to constant readjustments and amendments to the way that the network operates. Ergani operates in the framework of the national network Andromeda.

 

Ergani centre has during 11 years fulfilled the need of 4000 women of the Thessaloniki greater area:

  • 1000 unemployed have entered or re-entered the labour market
  • 200 have created their own businesses and
  • 250 have received services to reinforce their existing businesses.

 

ERGANI Centre plays also an important role in international networking.
